There are several advantages to this newly designed hearing instrument. It keeps the ear canal virtually open. There is an ear "bud" resting in the canal, but not stopping-it-up, or occluding it. That means your own voice is more natural. It also prevents over amplification of the low frequencies. This is especially important for patients who have a high frequency hearing loss, with normal hearing in the low frequencies.
The ear bud is soft and flexible. Most people don't even know it is in their ear. This makes it the perfect solution for those with sensitive ears, those who "can't stand anything in my ears". The ear bud is attached to extra small tubing that sits close to the ear, and is barely visible.
The technology inside the open ear hearing aid is state-of-the-art. It is able to give precise amplification for each hearing loss, without the whistle, called feedback. Many different manufacturers have developed the open ear hearing aid. Each manufacturer has come up with their own special features. So, there are many models to choose from, and we have them for you to try.
We have sets of these hearing aids available for you to hear during your hearing aid evaluation appointment at our office. We program a pair of open ear hearing aids for your hearing loss and you can hear how they sound right away. When you call for your appointment, be sure to tell us that you want to hear the new open ear hearing aids. And, if you can, bring a friend or family member with you so you will be able to listen to their familiar voice with these new hearing aids. There is no extra cost for this service.
